Vintage Hand Carved Bolas (Boleadoras) w/Leather Ropes from Argentina

Description

The bola or boleadoras is a primitive hunting tool that was originally used by the Chinese, Eskimos and South American Indians. Bolas are a throwing device made out of weights that are attached to the ends of interconnected cords. Bolas are designed to capture animals by entangling their legs. They are most famously used by the South American gauchos to capture running cattle or game.
This is an original bola purchased in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  It is made of carved out of what I believe to be polymer but the stars on top of the balls and the rope itself is all leather.  It measures approximately 19" long, and the balls are approximately 1-3/4" in diameter.  In total it weighs 14 ounces.
These have only been used as a display and never used or played with.  They have been stored in a child/pet/smoke-free home.
