    Sekil of green beads with black cross below.
    The sekil are one of the most striking metal pendant jewels that the Mapuche woman wears on her chest on festive or ritual occasions. They come in different sizes and their longitudinal shapes are varied. Its impeccable craftsmanship and original designs translate the skill of the silversmith who embodies the spiritual world in the details. An example of this is this superb piece made with two plates, tubes and a net of beads. It is adorned by small floral incisions on the metal and a large protuberance, which speak of the divine nature and human fertility. Hanging bells and beads in green, red and black colors enliven the whole. These beads accurately draw the figure of a cross with four equal sides, it is the Araucanian cross or symbol of the Mapuche worldview.
