POOLE POTTERY LARGE BOWL, ENGLAND, HAND DEC., ART DECO STYLE, MARKS OBSCURED

Description

Great  piece of English POOLE POTTERY and probably of about early '50's vintage though still in Deco styling. This is a bowl, 9-5/8" in diameter and  2-7/8" tall. It is hand decorated with four bands of color, 2 green, 1 slate blue and 1 mauve or pale purple. These band are separated by greenish yellow rings. Inside the band the rings are decorated with a double sinusodal wave pattern.  Truly eyecatching. Most piece of Poole I've had are well marked, but this piece's  is difficult to decipher, see photo 4.  Also there are a couple of very lightly impressed numbers, 1 & 2. Although the piece is in lovely condition overall, the base rim is missing paint in two areas, one insignificant and the other about 3/4" and shown in the 5th photo. These do not affect the ceramics at all, only flaking of the thin coloration.
