This is an anamorphic adapter made by Kowa. Originally intended as a 16mm projector lens it may be used to create widescreen images and video.
The lens has been tested on a camera and works as it should. Focus has been checked with the taking lens wide open down to 48in from the lens. The sample photo of the test pattern was taken with this lens. It was deliberately taken at 45 degrees to show both horizontal and vertical focus. It was taken at 48
in with the lens for sale in this listing using an Olympus E-M5 and a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AIS (manual) lens at f/1.8, (wide open). It has not been expanded. The set up is shown in the first photo.
This lens follows the normal pattern in that the minimum focal length for a full frame is 80mm, 50mm for APS-C and 40mm for m4/3.
The lens has a 39mm rear body diameter.
The samples were taken with this lens using the set up shown in the first photo. There are two pairs, wide open and f/4 taken at both ends of the distance scale. Both wide open shots are overexposed. It is not the lens, just beyond the range of the camera.
The lens for sale in this listing is shown in all the relevant photos. The camera, taking lens, adapter etc are not included.
CONDITION
This is a used lens in good cosmetic condition. Some signs of use.
Nothing that affects performance.
The front and rear have no obvious marks or scratches. The front has a few light cleaning marks. The rear has lots of marks in the coating. No fungus inside and minimal dust. There is some coating staining, especially behind the rear.
The focusing mechanism turns smoothly, regreased, though on the heavy side.
Included are the lens with the original front cap and a rear.
It will be carefully protected for shipping. The items shown in the photo showing the camera and taking lens etc. are not included.
